STEAM Unplugged

An unplugged, hands-on approach to STEAM skills aimed at the youngest generation. Starting the development of problem solving and idea sharing early through fun activities and experiments, children can practice their memory, movement, creativity and more. 

Science For Life – Physical Science

7-11yrs – 1hr – $175 – Creative Kids and Back To School vouchers accepted

Ready, set, go! Physical science lets students explore the world of physics through a range of sport-themed LEGO® builds. As they learn to apply the laws of motion, students will design, develop and optimize their solutions. This will require creativity, problem solving, and persistence. Are you game?

This class is part of a series of 6 Science For Life units. Each unit will cover a different discipline of science, each with a fun hands-on approach to learning. You do not have to commit to all of the units, as each unit can be completed as a stand alone course.

Competition Ready – Computational Thinking

7-11yrs AND 12yrs+ – 1hr 15min – $210 – Creative Kids and Back To School vouchers accepted

Computational Thinking is the process of taking large problems and breaking them down into smaller manageable sized chunks. Students will learn to process problems quickly and efficiently using the computer science methods of decomposition, abstractions, recognising patterns and then developing algorithms. Computational Thinking can be applied to an array of situations from maths problems, to writing poetry, to deciding what to eat for dinner. This is perfect for those who like to ‘think outside the box’ or would like to learn how.

This class is part of a series of 4 Competition Ready units. Each unit will prepare students to enter a range of STEAM-based competitions, however commitment to participation in the competition is not a requirement for participating in the class. You do not have to commit to all of the units, as each unit can be completed as a stand alone course.

FLL Challenge Experience

10yrs+ – 1hr 30min – $530 – Creative Kids and Back To School vouchers accepted

A look inside the FIRST Lego League Challenge program! Participants will learn to strategize, design, build, and program LEGO® Education SPIKE Prime™ robots to complete missions on a LEGO® challenge field. Participants will work together to identify a problem that affects their local community, design and create a solution, and share their ideas with their community. At the end of the program, teams will attend a tournament to display their achievements throughout the term. Students will learn and apply a wide range of STEAM skills, including problem solving, critical thinking, and creative design.

This class will span term 1 and term 2 and culminate in an official FIRST LEGO League rookie tournament in mid-June 2023. The registration fee for this class incorporates both term 1 and term 2, however commitment to participation in the tournament is not a requirement for participating in the class.
